Why...We do what we do...

Please keep The Captain and I in your thoughts and prayers as we go before the Kansas House of Representatives tomorrow to testify on House Bill 2333. We will be taking 3 kids with us. Pray that the members of the house will listen and be open to this bill making using illegal substances during pregnancy a crime-putting pregnant moms in MANDATORY REHAB until the birth of their baby.

The video above depicts what some of our children went through at birth. Take a minute to watch.

"He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the JUSTICE OF YOUR CAUSE like the noonday sun." Psalm 37:6

That just broke my heart! Do you have any recommended reading for caring for a drug exposed child?

There are tears in my eyes...this video brought back so many unpleasant memories. Our little guy was brought to our home without any special instructions. Those first weeks were heartbreaking and so difficult for him. These little ones need a voice to speak for them...be that for them tomorrow!

I'll be praying for you and the Captain and waiting to hear how everything goes.

Praying for the words that flow out of your mouth to pierce their hearts! They will be held accountable on judgement day for what they are about to know.

Our Baby I was exposed to opiates prenatally and looked very much like some of those babies :(

Please let us know how it goes!
Love,
K

Wow! It just rips my heart out! I have been looking into being a foster parent. I have always wanted to be one, so I have gotten info from our county as well as a public agency. My husband is more leary than I am. Do you have any advice? I know you said in your blog that your husband was reluctant at first.

I will be praying for you!

I pray you will find some sould who will listen.
I have personally witnessed way too many babies go through witdrawl and it absolutely should be punishable to those mothers.
Awful to watch babies suffer like that :(

Oh that just breaks my heart to see what they are going through. How, how, how can some women be so selfish.

Jen,

Know I will be praying for you and with you! This is truly a tragic reality, that saddens me deeply!

I can only imagine the pain God must feel as He looks upon all those lost who refuse the gift of His Son! Who came for the sick and hurting!

Hugs and love,
Jill

You are such an inspiration to me!

What a sweet video. To see those precious tiny little ones go through so much is heart breaking. Drugs is an area that I know nothing about. Thank you for educating me and thank you so much for being the voice for those that can't speak for themselves. I'm praying now. You go girl!! Praying His power, strength, peace and love will be with you in that room tomorrow.

Goodness---there are no words!

Praying God would give you the words to say as you represent HIM tomorrow. You are His vessel in that place---you are His heart and His words.

Hugs!

I've been praying for you all this morning! Hope it goes well!

I emailed my state rep a copy of the bill and ask him to consider doing this in our state.

This is a wonderful thing Jen. I hope God guides it through today!

I had to swallow sobs as I watched that. I got a peek at the first few weeks/months my son went through without me. We didn't get any instructions, either. In fact, we were told he was "Just fine." But he wasn't healthy.

Now we are dealing with the spiritual abuse that happens when babies are physically abused by drugs. The enemy is fighting for our babies, but we are fighting back.

God be with you as you testify.

Thank you for sharing the video. The woman in red is an angel. What a heart.

Just like you and so many who touch the lives of these babies and transform them.

I am praying for you today!

Wow. I just went through alot of that with my little Piglet. When you are in the midst of it you just deal with it but after seeing video it really breaks my heart knowing how badly he was suffering. He is much better now but still has times that I wonder if he is still working all the drugs out of his system. I will be praying for you today. Thank you for all you are doing for these precious little ones.

What you are doing is truly God's work...He is doing wonderful things through you! I pray the House will see and understand the impact this bill will have on the lives of innocent babies and will pass it without hesitation...and hopefully it will spur other states (such as mine) to do the same! NO BABY should have to endure drug withdrawl! God Bless you Jennifer!
